Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until well combined.
  3. Mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt and stir into the butter mixture. Stir in the oats and raisins. If you prefer your cookies not to spread as much, chill the dough for a couple of hours before continuing.
  4. Drop by rounded tablespoons (golf ball size) onto an ungreased baking sheet 1 1/2 inches apart and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. After a minute or two, transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.

Variations

The variations are endless. Try different combos of dried fruit and nuts (about 1 cup total of your add-ins). We especially like macadamia nuts and dried pineapple (no cinnamon) and pecans with dried cranberries.
